Citizens of Townsville! Cartoon Network's awesome series The Powerpuff Girls is getting its own comic book series! IDW Publishing has commissioned five issues - launching in September - and we're pleased to see from these covers that the evil super-monkey Mojo Jojo is going to be involved somehow. Whatever will Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup do?

Troy Little is on writing duties, and is the artist on the first issue, with Stephanie Buscema having designed the subsequent variant covers.

<![CDATA[Y: The Last Man Movie - Coming Soon]]>Tue, 18 Jun 2013 09:35:25 GMThttp://www.fizzandtattle.com/1/post/2013/06/y-the-last-man-movie-coming-soon.html
Ever since first getting wind that Brian K. Vaughan's fantastic comic book series Y: The Last Man was being considered for the big screen, we've been very, very excited. And now it looks like we're that much closer to this project actually happening.

Screenwriter David Goyer has revealed that the script is, 'as close as it's ever been,' and the film, directed by Dan Trachtenberg, could go into production as soon as next year. He added that the 60-issue collection was initially considered as one stand-alone film, but could 'hopefully continue.....hopefully there will be others.'

Y: The Last Man tells the story of Yorick, who literally finds himself the last male on earth after the rest of his species mysteriously die off as a result of some kind of discriminatory plague. The series charts his mission to reunite with his girlfriend in Australia while also fighting off a new violent cult calling themselves the Amazons, who much prefer the man-less world they've been given and will do anything to keep it that way. The series earned itself five Eisner awards.

<![CDATA[Fables Comic Book Series to Hit Big Screen]]>Thu, 13 Jun 2013 16:04:14 GMThttp://www.fizzandtattle.com/1/post/2013/06/fables-comic-book-series-to-hit-big-screen.html
Bill Willingham's Fables series is set to be adapted for the big screen, fronted by Harry Potter producers David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford. Danish filmmaker Nikolaj Arcel is attached to direct, and the movie will be written by Jeremy Slater, who penned the screenplay for the Fantastic Four reboot.

Fables was under consideration for a television series for ABC back in 2008, and
while it never fully developed, the network went on to commission fairy tale show Once Upon a Time not long after, much to the disgruntlement of Willingham fans.

More news on the Fables film to be announced as it's released!

<![CDATA[Handmade Adventure Time BMO Teapot]]>Mon, 10 Jun 2013 12:00:20 GMThttp://www.fizzandtattle.com/1/post/2013/06/handmade-adventure-time-bmo-teapot.html
Ahh, isn't he cute? This ceramic teapot has been made by Etsy seller Jade Flower, who was inspired by an episode of Adventure Time - 'Five More Graybles' - that saw BMO attempt to teach his alter ego Football about manners. These include sipping tea with a pinkie finger extended.

Along with the four purple teacups you see in the picture, this little guy will set you back £100. Eye-watering, yes. But a pretty good excuse to act like a British native and get the tea out at every opportunity.

Because it’s Friday....here’s the Warp Zone performing a great a capella version of the Game
of Thrones
theme tune. Not perhaps as mesmerising
this cat singing it, but nice all the same.

The A.C.Camargo Cancer Center in São Paulo, Brazil, has come up with a novel way of inspiring children to beat their cancer - by covering IV bags with Justice League themed boxes. The partnership with Warner Bros also saw the hospital give the kids comic books that tell how JL characters lost their super powers but were able to gain them back after undergoing treatment.
The Center went one step further by giving the children's ward a whole new look. The game room was turned into the Hall of Justice, corridors and doors were decorated and the exterior acquired an exclusive new entrance for the children undergoing chemotherapy.

An artist from Florida came up with a unique way to make use of her old comic books - by turning them into pieces of art that spell out signature comic sound effects.

Amy Watkins said of her idea:
'I love my comics too much to keep them in dusty long boxes in the closet. After I've read the stories and pored over the pictures, I want to enjoy my comics again, as a medium for new art. I sell original, handmade pieces – no prints here – constructed out of the amazing art of old comic books.'
Amy is selling her awesome work over on Etsy
